Adam unveiled the Symetree Series at his event in the Summer of 2004 although it had been developing in his mind for a few years.Inspired by the combination of ebony and ivory together with his fascination of pattern repetition and the collective behaviour of animals, Adam origanally envisaged the concept being a progression of the 'Eden' Series. He says, "Although the mental concept was clear in my mind, I struggled with the practical element of turning this into a visual form. It was only after discussing my ideas with a friend that this started to come together, her accurate interpretation of my ideas drew similarities with M.C. Escher's Art. After re-familiarising myuself with his work I soon realised that my ambition was overcomplicating matters. I needed to simplify my designs and with Escher's guidance I gained a greater understanding of the formulas required to move forward. However, there was still a long way to go as the theoretical and the practical are often Worlds apart and I was met with challenges at every stage of development."
