Surprise, surprise! “Gateau” celebrates the return of David Lawrence to Harmony Kingdom and the uncanny coincidences that lead to his reunion with Martin Perry. It was about the time of his daughter Rose’s ninth birthday in February 2002 when the two crossed paths at the Spring Fair in Birmingham. And the final prototype of this delightful box figurine was approved around the time of younger daughter Katie’s third birthday. To mark these happy coincidences, the artist’s trademark acorn makes a surprise appearance as the interior carving.

Although Harmony Kingdom is still manufactured at Wimberley Mills near Stroud in Gloucestershire, since Martin Perry, the founder retired in August 2005, marketing and shipping of the pieces takes place from the USA office at Harmony Ball Company in Ohio. This means that we have to consolidate our orders before having them shipped to us. We are currently taking deliveries about every 3 months and so there may be a delay with your order if the piece is not already in stock. We will advise by email. Hope this doesn't cause a problem.
